Starboy Homecoming Album
Homecoming is Starboy Matt Bowden’s full‑scale concept album — a theatrical fusion of heavy progressive rock, electronic breakdowns, orchestral power and immersive sound‑journey moments. Built around the mythic archetype of the traveller–explorer, the album follows a modern Hero’s Journey, with each track unfolding like a tone poem and flowing into the next through atmospheric transitions and sonic “moments” that expand the sense of movement, place and discovery.
The album features several long, epic compositions that highlight Matt’s classical training alongside his years in metal and prog bands. Many tracks follow a trance‑influenced arc, dropping into spacious, psychedelic breakdowns before rising back into massive riffs engineered for live performance.
Homecoming is designed as a full immersive theatrical experience — a circus of costume, fire, light, burlesque, Māori warriors, aliens, and, as TV3 reported, “more aliens in hotpants than you can shake a stick at.” The album is presented alongside Starboy Eternity, the steampunk mini‑movie trilogy that deepens the mythology and expands the Hero’s Journey into a cinematic universe.
Songs include “Only You,” a full‑noise psychedelic rock tone poem; “Eternity,” an anthem built on hypnotic guitars; “Flying,” a heavy minor‑blues journey with an epic modern‑Hendrix solo; “Homecoming,” a huge, crowd‑shaking monster riff; “Higher,” Starboy’s signature transcendence‑meets‑weekend‑party cry; and “Stone Tattoo,” a freedom‑anthem rooted in civil‑rights energy.
